Make a 2WD look like a Z71

I've got a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 2WD, I like the stance of the 4WD (Z71), is

the extra lift just from bigger tires, or would I need a lift kit to

achieve that stance? If I need a lift kit, what size; 4"? If it's just bigger tires, will they fit a 2WD 1500 without rubbing the inside of the fenders wells?

Yes, Z71's have bigger 265/75R16 tires which might be around 1" bigger than 245/75R16 tires found on 2WD's, unless i'm wrong about what tires a 2WD got.

Z71 also has 2" lift blocks in the rear. You will need the blocks and longer U-bolts. The front suspension of a Z71 is completely different than a 2WD, so you'll just have to look for a 2WD lift kit or springs for the front.

But basically, it's bigger tires and 2" lift.

Your kidding right? If I saw a 2wd trying to pose as a z71 I would probably laugh so hard I'd hit a building.

But if you hit a building, wouldn't you have to call your insurance company to help pay for the repair. You better throw the 4.3l back in again before they see it. You don't want to get in trouble again.

So, making a baby truck look like a big boy truck isn't funny? I didn't say I was trying to make it look like it was a Z71, I just like the way they sit. What's so funny about that? I'll never use 4WD where I live so why buy it? Everything else is the same. I could probably go anywhere a Z71 could anyway with my gears and Limited Slip Rear.

Msynder, don't let koerbs aka coolzr2 get to you. You'll see that most of his post are nothing but the useless garbage he posted in this thread. I also know of another message board where his constant lies and his big mouth got him thrown off. You would think he would have learned his lesson.

I was under the impression that there would have been z71 stickers on it, thats what I would have laughed at, otherwise I have seen many lifted 2wd's, some of them are really neat.

No, no stickers, there is a guy down the road from me who didn't do anything but buy the stickers, i.e. no lift, no on/off road tires, just the stickers, then he didn't even manage to put them in the right place...

By the way my stock tires are 255/70/R16... What do you guys suggests, start out with bigger tires and then worry about the lift kit if the new tires rub the fender wells? What size?
