question about flowtech headers

Hi,

i've got a Chevy 1983 K20 4wd truck, and am putting headers on it.

I originally bought the flowtech 11500flt and ran into the problem that the right side rubs the front drive shaft, but the left side went on fine. These have a 1.5" tube and 3" collector

I contacted flowtech, and they said try the 11506flt as it sits up higher. These have a 1 5/8" tube and 2.5" collector. I got me a set of those, and the right side goes on fine, but the left side now hits the clutch linkage.

So my question is, do i have to use "balanced" headers? or can i use one from each set? Are there any problems with using different sized headers on each side?

Thanks,

Matt

equal length headers are completely over rated. Anyone that has completed a large amount of dyno testing would be able to confirm that to you... is one a shorty and the other full length? that may cause a noticeable difference in torque, though other than that if there are differences of up to 8 inches in pipe length from the one header to the next it won't matter
