Problems with my truck

Hi, I am new to this forum & have many questions about my truck. I have had and continue to have problems that the dealer can’t or won’t attempt to solve. I will list them below. I would welcome any comments or suggestions. Thanks

Engine idles rough----- as soon as I took delivery I noticed that the engine idled rough, I brought it to the dealer and they told me that they had sold many trucks with this engine (4.8 ) and that I was the 1st. and only person to ever complain about this. I sent an e-mail to GM, they informed me that they were aware of this problem & that they had a team of engineers working on it but nothing yet. The dealer lied & in the 3 years that I have had this truck I have not heard another word from GM. This truck is very fast & has a lot of horsepower ( 270 ) for such a small engine. I suspect that it has a special cam in it.

Bad squeak that seems to come from passenger door.--- This has been a continuing problem for 2 years & is very aggravating. The truck has been in the shop 3 or 4 times for this but the dealer said they could not duplicate the squeak and yet every time I bring it to the shop the noise disappears for 3 to 5 months. I found out just recently that the dealer had been spraying the undercarriage of the truck with silicone oil every time I would bring it in. Just last week the dealer decided that both of the rear leaf springs were bad and replaced them. The squeak is still there. How could the springs go bad on a truck with 18,000 miles on it?

Truck leans to the left 1.5 inches---- When I noticed this I went to the dealer & once again they told me that I was the only person to ever complain about this. I sent an e-mail to GM. They informed me that they were aware of this but since all of their trucks leaned to the left that it was just a characteristic of this truck & there was nothing that they could do about it. Let me say here that the next year 2003 the new trucks no longer leaned to the left. There is more but I will leave that for another time.

Deepdiver,

I'm not one of the experts here, but you may want to provide a little more info about your truck, especially regarding the leaning.

2wd trucks have spring front suspensions, I believe.

4wd trucks have torsion bar front suspensions, and the torsion bars are adjustable.

Standard cab or extended cab could affect your door noise.

Can't comment on the engine, although I think I remember reading something about a throttle TSB - some others will probably chime in if so.

Also, did you purchase the truck new or used?

The issue with the lean to the left is due to your fuel tank. The fuel tank on our trucks is located on the left side of the bed. I too noticed this lean, but when I checked the measurment from the top of my tire to the wheel well both sides were the same.(with my tank empty) After I filled my tank, it went back to being about 3/4-1" lower on the left side.

Not sure what kind of sqeak you are hearing but make sure door jam latch is adjusted tighly and try spraying all the door jam contact areas with silicone spray lube. My wife Cherokee had a sqeaky door going donw the road and the spray lube cured it!
