Headers & gasmpg

I am planning on gettin ASM L/T Headers with the factory exaust will they help my gas mileage like they claim. Did you notice an increase?

It should help ,but keep in mind people put headers on cuz they want more performance. Well with your foot on the floor all the time MPG will drop, but if you drive the same it will increase.

do the math.

cost of header =A

cost per mile before header=B, ($2.00/16= $.125 in gas expense per mile at 16 MPG)

cost per mile after header, =C, ($2.00/18=.$.110 in gas expense per mile at 18 MPG)

subtract C from B =D (savings in fuel expense)

divide A by D = E (miles you will have to drive to pay for headers)

Sorry to say but we do not buy and install headers for improved gas milage, that is just what the wifes get told. Any time you can open the exhaust and get more into the intake, your engine will breath better. After installing my Gibson headers and catback exhaust system I noticed a big kick in the seat of my pants. Spend the money and do it. You will not regret it.

I agree with lotzafun, you won't regret getting them. I have noticed a little better gas mileage with all of the mods I have....but they would take a LONG time to get you any payback!

My main concern is performance. I would rather see an increase in gas mileage then decrease. I know when I do gears and stall converter at a later date gas mileage will ruined

Well if the headers are $400 then thats only 26666.66 miles to pay off the headers. With some people I know that is only a year of driving. For me that is 2-3 years of driving. Parents, wife, G/F, and anybody else who doesn't know about cars gets told they do wonders for gas milage but you know you want it for performance reasons.

d**n STRAIGHT!

i use my truck for work, and for now, i found a great set of headers on eBay for $150 new. thats only 10,000 miles, and/or about 3 months worth of driving. GREAT investment for the BOSS! lol

Plus the plates my wife wants are $300+, so my headers are a drop in the bucket compared to her plates and will start paying for themselves over time
