I could have sworn they were here this morning! Am I missing something? I dont see them now.

Anybody have the links for the full intermediate steering column fix? I have a brother who has a 97GMC. During long left hand turns, the steering seems to slip, as if the power steering releases and re-engages. It happens all the time.

I was going to see if the intermediate fix would help with this but cant find the links. It is out of warranty so we are going to have to do it ourselves.

thanks

Are you speaking of the steering shaft lube? If so, this only fixes the clunk in the column. I've never heard of what you're talking about, but sounds like a pump related problem.

In case you're wondering, here's a set of how to's on the subject:

Steering Shaft Lube

It's quite easy to do, less than 1/2 hour. Fixed the clunk in my column, at least for now. The kit costs about $20 at your dealer, which is the best way to go.

Great, thanks that is what I was looking for.

I was thinking pump also but figured if the lub isnt that big a deal we could do that too.

 You might want to take the truck back to chevy dealer and have him read the code. My 1997 had the same problem and it was the control module for the low speed variable steering. It is located under the dash board.
