Black Paint and Swirls!

Ok, so here is the story....

While driving my 2004 HD CC, with only 1200 miles, WHAM! I get side swiped. :seeya: After some choice words, I calmed down and said, "Oh well, thats why they are called accidents, right?"

So I find a reputable body shop, with their lifetime satisfaction warrantee, and have the repairs done, using only new GM parts...... 1200 miles!

Anyway, when I go to pick it up, there is a ton of specs in the paint, from dust or dirt. I let them know that this is unacceptable and they keep it for one more day to cut and buff the paint. :flag:

Now you can see swirls in the paint whenever it is in the sunlight. Help me out with some ammo for when I go back. I always thought that if you were painting in a booth with filters and wet the floors and walls, that dust and debris would not be an issue. Therefore no need to buff once the clear coat was on. I painted a few cars in the Auto Body shop in high school, and I dont remember seeing as much junk in the paint then.

What do you think?

What you need to do is find a better body shop or a good detail shop and have the swirls buffed out, you can do this yourself if you are good with a buffer. Depending on how deep your swirls are you will need at least a product like 3M Scratch and Swirl Remover, and some time, in the 80's and 90's we had 36 shops and did this all the time.
