dsrour Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 I've seen some threads on this subject, but really not that much information or experience posted. I am interested in HID headlites for my o4 Yukon XL. I know you can get bulbs. Is it better to upgrade to Denali projector lights when using HID bulb? Do you use on low or high beam or both. I know there is a glare problem w/ conventional housing. Does anyone know if an entire system, similar to ones available for Chevy trucks will be available anytime soon? Thanks
import_fighter Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 get you an hid retro fit kit,the denali headlights so there wont be any glare and you can get the hid kit in a high and low or just low.
dsrour Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 So put HID lights in both high and low in Denali housing and good to go? Any suggestions on vendors? Thanks
import_fighter Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 dont really know of any vendors,I had a bohmen kit that was very nice.I think sylvania makes a kit also. The bi-xenon kit for highs/lows is quite a bit higher and really unessessary. The low beams are just as bright if not brighter then high beams, making the high beams unessesary unless you need them to pass inspection. But there a flick trick mod. That makes your low beam flick to make it look like it went to a high beam.
99Silver6.0 Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 I woudlnt put HID in both hi and low. HID in the low beams alone will be plenty sufficient!! As far as vendors, check out these: www.polarionlighting.com www.misterjung.com I have a Mr. Jungs kit. Hella ballasts and retroed Osram bubls. The Xenarc kit was too expensive back when I bought my HID kit. ou just have to make sure you get good ballasts!!!! Mr. Jungs uses Hella and Polarion Lighting uses Phillips. Those are the only 2 brand ballasts I would buy.
Imkunfused Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 I just put the HID's in my truck yesterday. You wont need the Highbeams. Hell you probably wont even use the highbeams anymore. The amount of light the HID's put out more than makes up for it. Just make sure you aim the headlights correctly.. You can blind someone with these lights if you have them cranked up in the air
Mungo Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 New to the site but like what I see. Can get in alot of trouble here! Any of you guys using the 4700k McCulloch HID conversion kit? From what I have read thru searches most are very happy with it although some have heard that they have higher failure rates yet I have yet to read of a failure directly. I'm not crazy about the blue bulbs but the price is right on eBay McColloch 4700k on eBay. Thanks, Brendan
Bgdsub72 Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I recently installed the 8000K kit on my 04 Silverado and I love them. I can get you a kit for $425 shipped if your interested. Email me for more info [email protected]
Mungo Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Thanks. I not looking for anything that high k-wise. I would prefer 4300 but will settle for 4700. I want performance, not looks. The more light the better. Arent the bulbs that come with the McColluch conversion tinted blue? Not too crazy about that.
Bgdsub72 Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 I can get any rating of light. I just opted for the 8000K, but I can get 6000K and down, all clear glass
1 Bad Burb Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 i have a 6000K McCulloch kit and i love them! i have a 96, so i put in the angel eyes headlights and the hid kit, and the light output is GREAT!!!! i'll never go back to a stock kit and any car i'll ever drive will have HID's. i'd suggest gettin the Denali headlight housing with the projectors and then get low beam HID's. u won't even use ur highs again, i certainly have never used my highs, EVER!!! BTW, MisterJung's is not there anymore, too many people got scamed... Aj
Bgdsub72 Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 here is a pic of the 8000K, compared to the stock fog lights sorry its kind of fuzzy, it was freezing when I took that pic and I think my hands were shaking a bit...
