Temperature Sensor Question

Can someone tell me the location of the temp sensor on an 04? I have the 99-03 pdf file but can't locate it in there. I am adding the temp/compass mirror and know I will need the sensor. Does the sensor include a mounting bracket? I have a capped connector behind the bumper in front of the radiator and I am assuming/hoping this is what it is for. I am also hoping that after connecting the sensor and the mirror that it will just work like my fog lights did Anyone else done this yet? Thanks

If it's similar to the '03, which I would think it is, it should be mounted behind the grill somewhat between the driver's side headlight assembly and the center of the radiator. There are support bars in front of the radiator and just a hole for the sensor to push into. I believe the sensor and mount/pushpin are one piece. I drilled a hole in the plastic "skid plate" behind the front bumper and relocated it to get a better reading and avoid the engine heat.

Thanks for the info, did you have to lengthen the harness to relocate it? I was wondering about that, those support bars are pretty close to the radiator or is that the AC condenser in the front? I miss my temperature reading from the old blazer (that's all I miss ) Maybe I will stop at the dealers tomorrow and pick one up. Thank again.

No, there was plenty of harness to reach the couple feet down to the bottom of the bumper.

Yeah, there is a pile of radiators on the front of my truck too. AC/Oil/Tranny/Engine/Intercooler, etc.

Moving it really helped correct the temperature when I have the grill cover on in the winter. Now when I check the temp on the mirror instead of cold out, it's dang cold out!

See rasal's post about the getex mirror. I posted the service manual diagram of the location for the sensor. The sensor should already have the bracket. It just attaches to the radiator support by a notch and a push fastener. The support is in front of the A/C condenser. The harness should reach with no probs.

Thanks guru, I was curious because I have the 99-03 parts pdf and could not find that item anywhere. I didn't know if you post was for OBS or new. DO you happen to know if ths would be a plug and play addition? I have the base 04 with the air baig indicator in the mirror. I bought the gm factory mirror and will pick up the sensor this week, hope it work
