More Power ?

Since my 1993 Suburban only has 75000 miles and still looks pretty good I decided to keep it for a while longer. Have had it since new.

It has always been a little short in the power department, pulling long grades with a full load.

I have been thinking of adding a K & N filtercharger kit and a JET stage 2 chip.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Are there any noticable gains?

Is it worth the money and the extra for premium gas?

It is a 4WD with 454 and 3.73 Gears, 4" lift with 33" tires.

It does have a flowmaster.

Thanks for any advice.

well,, first id try the better intake system, then try swapping the 373's out for some 410's or 456's for those 33's, that should help a lot on the grades, i dont think the jet chips are incredible, but i would look into a tuner or programmer so you can run it on 87 when mileage is a concern (long hauls on flat land) or 93 when you want some more buzz :puke:

I put the K&N Kit on my truck over 2 years ago. love it. i only have a 4.8L (small V8) and i noticed nominal gains, but a definate increase in sound quality. it's cool sound, maybe a small gain in power, and cool when you lift the hood. i imagine with your bigger engine you would see a more noticeable gain then I.

if you can afford the $200-300 that it will cost, i'd do it. especially if you already have exhaust. sometimes adding up a bunch of smaller stuff like that will show to be nominal by itself, but when combined can give you some bonus points on the hp scale :puke:
