fog lamps

I have a 2002 GMC Sierra and am wondering if it is normal for the fog lamps to only work on low beams. I have been missing one of the fog lamps since i bought it, and just put it in today. So this is the first time I've really ever checked the lights out. I thought when you turn them on in the cab, they would be on all the time no matter what.

The fog lights will only work if the headlights are on lo.

That's a common mod to do with the grandprixs. Only cause the stock lighting on those Suck big time. My lowbeams on my truck put out 10x the amount of light that my highbeams do on my Grand Prix. And my truck lights are completely stock no fogs no additional nothing.

Excellent info you guys are sharing. My question is, do any of you know where I can get a fog light lens only for my 01 Sierra 5.3? I can't remember if it actually came with the truck new or fell off after I took ownership. Part number would be appreciated if possible. I haven't been to the dealer yet to see if they have them.

Check E-bay. I've seen people out there occasionally only selling one side or the other from time to time.

On my 03 I thought they came on with just the DRLs w/o needing the headlights on. I do it it on Auto so maybe it turns them on as well when you hit the foglight button? I'll have to look and see.

I would encourage you to go for aftermarket fogs, if you are replacing one. The OEMs are mostly for looks, and are pretty ordinary as fogs go. Or go junkyard if you want OEM.
