Z71GA Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 I have a "04" GMC K1500. Today I'm looking at the torsion bars everyone is talking about adjusting and I noticed the front of the torsion bar's are alot smaller then the hole in the LCA, is that right? They look to be just big enogh to keep them from turning.
lrymal Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 It is by design and the torque of the bar keeps it in place. The purpose is to keep the bar from rusting in place. By rust, I mean very minor surface rust. But, that surface rust would be enough to freeze the bar in its hole.
BOFH-Z71 Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 I too have an 04 GMC K1500 EC Z71. I looked at turning mine up a little and noticed that they seem to be turned up already and have no room to be turned anymore. Is this normal? I've been reading all the articles on this, and had a friend of mine look at it with me, and he agrees that there's no more room to go up. Could it be set like that from the factory since I have 17's instead of 16's?
Z71GA Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 My rightside was all the up but he leftside was about half way. I put he ford keys in last weekend and have alot of room to go now. Cost me about $36.00 form Ford.

Also how far up did you crank them?
Z71GA Posted August 20, 2004 Author Posted August 20, 2004 I when up about 2” total in the front. Sorry about the "F" word. I wash my mouth out with GM transmission oil…… I feel better now. I got all the info here. www.fullsizechevy.com
