6.0L exaust flange cracking

MY truck has a 6.0L and I have been hearing a exaust leak on the passanger side during cold start ups, then it goes away after a few miles but seems to be getting worse. I just had a Flowmaster installed and while there I asked about the leak. The guys showed me a flange that connects the exaust pipe to the manifold. They had one from another truck, with the same problem, the part is made of stainless steel and becomes brittle over time they said and cracks which creates a leak. The one they had has three cracks in it. They said some people get fabricating shops to make one out of steel for half the cost of the original part. Original part is around $360.00. Has anyone out there tried to get it repaired under warranty or is there another solution that's quick and easy. I don't really want to put headers on the truck just to solve the problem. I have also been told that there is no recall on the faulty part that GM is taking some action towards. Can someone out there help me out.
