Fogs and DRL's

I wanted my fogs and drl's on at night so after a little bit of testing and messing around I came up with this. Under the hood in the fuse box next to the battery there are some relays clearly marked for the fog lamps and drl's. I took a wire from #85 pin on the fog lamp relay and ran it to the #85 pin on the drl relay. Now the drl's com on with the fogs at night. These # 85 pins are the negative pins and should have no affect on the wiring system. I've been running this for the last week with no problems. I just put the wires under the contact and pushed the relay back in. Any questions or comments are welcome.

what model did you do this on

i have an 02 TB and would like to make the same modification

I have an 03 tahoe. I'm sure you have the same relays under the hood. The only problem is during the day the fogs come on with the drl's. Maybe a diode inline would prevent that.

Have you tried just having the DRLs on at night?

I don't think that's a good idea, your DRLs are now powering your fog lamps(is the fog lamp swith on or off?), I'm sure that circuit isn't meant to power both sets.

 

Also getting just the DRLs to run at night would be bad as well, when the DRLs are on there is no lights lit up in the back, so people would only see brake lights.
