Smooth Ride Suspension

So what exactly is the "Smooth Ride Suspension" that I have on my 04 Silverado? I have been looking to find aftermarket shocks and can't seem to find any for the 04's. Is it a special shock valving, improved shackles or spring leafs?

Just interested, what shocks does eveyone suggest. I will mostly use the truck for very little hauling/towing. I am interested in improving the overall driveability of the truck.

BTW: 2wd, ECSB

Thanks,

Smooth Ride is just what it says. Its the softest ride a GM truck has for your model year it includes springs, torsion bars(4x4) shocks, jounce bumpers & bushings, stablizer bars  . I dont think you will get a much better ride without ruining the handling with anyother shock setup. GM spends lots of time & money trying to make there buyier happy.

The smooth ride suspension is a very well defined marketing term for base level. It also adds a line to the pretty stark base sticker. There is the $95 heavy duty package and the off road packages too that come with the 4WD.

So I guess that changing the shocks on this would not be detrimental to a "highly sophisticated, tuned touring suspension"

I am looking to improve the overall quality of the ride, I just don't like feeling the bumps (hwy expansion joints) for a second or two after I hit them.

I have been unable to get Chevy to replace, maybe they are just fine, dunno. I do know that all of a sudden the ride quality disappeared....

Thanks for your responses!!
