front end

this may sound like a dumb idea, but i have a hookup at a junkyard and may be able to do this fairly cheaply.

i have a 2000 chevy, i was wondering if the front end/headlights, etc. would be interchangeable w/ that of a gmc. (also, i wouldnt have to change the hood or anything right?)

this isnt to pretend my truck is something it's not or anything. i just would really like to entertain the idea of installing a one-piece billet grill. the chevy front end has the grill split into 2, which i dont really like too much. you might ask why i didnt just buy a d**n gmc in the first place. the answer is because the price was right and this one had everything i wanted. i may be going for a different look w/ it though, as i may be moving away from the gravel road and prairie trail country soon. cattle guard might have to go, and a drop might be on the way.....

anyway, is it possible, and what all would i have to exchange? it would be a 2000 chev front for a 2000 gmc......

If I were to take a guess, I would say the sheet metal (hood and fenders) would be the same on both models. The bumper may not be the same and most likely the bumper cap is different.

You may be able to get away with the grill and headlight assemblies, plus a bumper cap... (just guessing by picturing it in my mind  )

Hood, fenders, bumper, bumper cap, all lights and of course grille are all different. Core support is the same. Light mounting plates are the same.

Hope you are up for a huge hit in resale value. Doing a conversion like this can really turn away potential buyers. Looks like the truck has been jacked with or had a front end collision.

definitely not worried about resale. it was my fathers, i bought it from him and i plan to have it for a long, long time. i have no intentions of gettin rid of this or my car for quite a while.

thanks for the info guys. it was just a curious thing. really like the looks of those gmc grill replacements.
