We are now carrying the Stainless Works long tube headers for the 8.1.

These headers are manufactured from 304 Stainless, the headers feature 3/8” thick, CNC laser cut flanges, and CNC mandrel bent primary tubes available in 1 3/4", 1 7/8” or 2”. The headers are completely tig welded together, and are designed with a slip joint collector that uses the factory headpipes and catalytic converters for OEM reliability. Stainless Works long tube design makes excellent low end torque and mid range power while maximizing ground clearance. Stainless Works Muscleflow headers are the only ones available with a limited lifetime warranty, so they are guaranteed to last as long as your truck.

They only list these headers for the 2003-'04 model years but they should fit the 2001-'02 trucks also. They just haven't installed these on those years to confirm. I'll be installing a set on my 2002 Silverado HD in the near future.

The part number and price is -

SW81 2003-'04 Stainless Works 8.1 long tube headers $689.99

Orders placed this week should be ready to go in 4-6 weeks. We're offering free shipping for the first 5 sets that are ordered!

I'm going to be asking about the SUVs today

8.1 owners have been doing pretty good with all of the big mods becoming available for this motor. I guess we can't have everything... Well, we can try!

sweet looks like a gnarly ribcage for the beast, will these hook right up if ive got those stupid precats in the way, i remmeber last looking under there it was all 1 piece of tubing so i guess some welding will be required. By the ways it looks like they will fit on the burb and the yukon xl from the picture because the tubing follows pretty much the same lines as the stockers and also has a slip fit at the end :jester:

Some cutting and welding will be required. They will tie into the factory head pipe. I haven't had a truck come in with the pre-cats to see if they would be eliminated yet.

I went with the 1 7/8" headers to help the package I'm going with breath. I should see those on our stock order in about 4 weeks. We'll also have the 1 3/4" in stock (well, if they don't sell out before then :banghead: ).

beautiful headers! and we all know that Stainless Works makes headers that really perform too. if i don't go the turbo route, i'll be ordering a set of these in 2" for my 8.1.

Stainless Works produces most of their headers in batches and they are finishing the 8.1s now. We should have 1 3/4 and 1 7/8" headers in stock this week.

i dont think the headers will fit on trucks with the pre cats unless you plumb some new pipes, theres one precat on the cross over pipe from the left side and the precat from the right side is further back some, probably after the smaller pipes go into the collector. After the warranty is over im gonna get some and run some new pipes to the cats and when i have to get it smogged ill just run race gas

edit: i think the precats are on 03-04 models or on suv's sold in low emissions areas like kaliforneeyuh

I have a new set of 1 7/8" long tubes available for $500. + shipping. I was going to use these on my 8.1 but scraped that project and am buying a DuraMax instead.

So, going over to the dark side. Selling your truck also? Did you ever get the Raylar parts? I heard good things about their heads from Lyndon.

Yup, never thought I would be a diesel owner. I always said that I'd only buy one if I was doing alot of towing but not for regular use. That was until I drove one last week. So much quieter than what Ford and Dodge have to offer plys 100+ horsepower and sick amounts of torque are just a computer program away.

The Raylar parts were taking a long tube to come in (2 more weeks, 2 more weeks ect...) so I canceled that order. I was going to go with them later but ordered the Duramax instead. They have some very good Big Power mods for the 8.1.
