On-Star Phone

Ok, My one year has expired on my On-Star. I liked the hands free calling that it provided. I already have a cell phone through Verizon and this is what I believe On-Star to use also.

 

Has anyone figure out if a cell phone number can be transfered to the hands free calling using the phone equipment that is already in the truck.

 

There are some smart people out there, surely there is a way!

I tried to transfer my cell phone over to my Onstar last spring. Then there was some delays and the person on the phone (from Onstar) said they were having some problems with the technology and didn't know when they'd have it resolved.

 

I'd give them a call and see if they got their problems fixed.

OnStar does not use Verizon (exclusively) OnStar is an analog service that uses the strongest signal reguardless of the provider, this is why their personal calling minutes are so expensive. I haven't heard of a single case that someone was able to transfer their number from OnStar.

as of june 1st you can Port your number between companies, I did it and its great.
