I have a kenwood HU going to an Orion 500.2 amp running series parrallel to 2 audiobahn subs. It doesn't hit nearly as hard as I want. Is the way the subs are wired the best or is there another way. Or should I get new subs?

Thanks!!

I have a couple ?'s for you:

1) What's the lowest load your Orion will play at? (4/2/1 ohm mono)

2) What's the voice coil config of your subs? (4 ohm DVC or 2 ohm DVC)

Here's a few wiring diagrams that may help:

It would also help to know what type of enclosure you are using. Ported/sealed? What are your subs requirements? Do you have them under the rear seat? I know some folks have shoehorned 10s behind the rear seat, and had them sound OK, but not up to their potential.

The subs are 4 ohm DVC currently wired for 4 ohm load. My orion will do 4 mono and 2 stereo?

I have them in sealed boxes currently firing down under the rear seat, as per a suggestion from a local sound shop.

so you have it going into the amp as a 4 ohm load? but are you using 1 or 2 channels? if you're only using 1 that could be your problem. take the speaker wire out and bridge it. that will give you the output of 2 ohm. i had a fosgate amp that was worded like that. it said not to give it below a 4 ohm mono load, but after i got to thinking and done some talking with people smarter than i am, they said i could give it the 4 ohms and the amp would see a 2 ohm mono load. and that wouldn't hurt the amp.......if all the babbling made sense
