Recommended Posts

hey all, I tried to find the older post that I remembered seein' ya'll talk about it, but I wasn't successful.

I'm getting some BFG Land Terrains tomarrow and they have two kinds. Regular and LT. Does LT have anything to do with Light Truck?? or something?

Thanks fellas...

LT tires are specifically made for trucks. They have more weight carrying capacity to suit pickup trucks better than the standard "P" or passenger rated tires. They do offer a stiffer ride though. It all depends on what you do with your truck. If you tow or haul regularly, I'd get the LT tires.

LT is for light truck. They will have a heavier load rating than the P-metric equivalent. They will also cost more and ride harder than a P-metric. If you don't do any towing or maybe occasional light towing. The P-metrics will be fine. I put the P-metrics on mine and I pull a small trailer with an ATV about once a month. I've been doing this for 20,000 miles on the new tires without any problems. However, if you tow or haul heavy loads on a regular basis, I would go with LT tires in a load range C or maybe even E depending on how heay your load is. But, with a RCSB truck (I'm assuming 1/2 ton), I would think you aren't carrying heavy loads anyway.
