I reveived the information off of GM's 2005 Online Order / Reference Guide. Could be a miss print, but it was under the Distribution Updates so I think it is lagit.

Effective 10/4/2004, the following changes will be made to the Vehicle Order Guide:

Mechanical section-(LH6) Engine, Vortec 5300 Gen IV V8 SFI. Changed description to read "(335 HP [250 kW] @ 5200 rpm, 330 lb.-ft. [445.5 N-m] @4000 rpm)".

I don't understand why they are uping the HP of the 5.3 when the torque is still less than a 5.7, Torque is what you feel in your pants on the low end. I don't get it.

That 335 hp will be sweet, but who drives around a 5k all day long, most drive at 1-3.5k where the torque is.

EDIT: 4000 to get 330 tq? Wow, the 5.7's make 335 at 2600 or something like that, I'd hate to see what the 5.3 makes at 2600 for torque, and hp. you would think the longevity of a motor requiring higher RPM's to make power wouldn't be all that good. More revolutions = more wear.
