Can a 4L80 be changed in place of a 4l60e??

I tow an enclosed trailer and would like to upgrade my transmission to a 4l80e will the 2 enterchange??

 

My truck is a 1999 5.3 Z71

You could probably find a transmission adapter, but then the pcm will need to be reprogrammed. It may also require a special wire adapter if one is made. More than likely it cannot be done.

 

Option 1

Add a shift kit would be a good option.

 

Option 2

Trade in truck for a 2500 HD.

 

If the transmission goes ithen you can have it rebuilt to higher spec parts and add a shift kit.

yes sir it can be done!!! i am doing it right now. you will need>>>

1.an adapter harness-speartech

2.6.0 flexplate-i have the part number

3.6.0 flexplate spacer

4.crossmember---either get one from a 6.0 or build one

5.will have top modify the driveshaft if ext cab

6.a program for the pcm

7.yoke

8.dipstick

9.cooling lines

there might be a few more things to. i plan on doing a full write up on it when i am through.
