Can i switch out my dashboard??

I own a 1992 Chevy K1500 extended cab 350 automatic. I was wondering if i could change out my old square dashboard for a later style such as a 1996. I realize that the front door panels will also have to be changed but my main query is will it just bolt right in their and to what extent will i have to rewire everything. The truck has a brand new engine, trans an i just rebuilt the front 4wd system. Basically it runs like new and i dont want a new truck i want this one but just a little updated. Has anyone ever done this, any help would be appreiciated.

I have a buddy that did it. He does TONS of custom work, even makes OCC type choppers (people pay him over 100k for some of them).

 

He said that it was such a PITA, that he would never do it again, no matter how much a customer laid on the table.

 

This is when I was talking to him about doing exactly what you are talking about in my 92.

 

-Answer: Yes, it can be done.

 

-.02: After talking to him, I wouldn't touch it. Cheaper and easier to just buy a newer truck.

I also know someone who did it and they too wouldn't do it again for any amount of money in the world!!

He told me next time he'll just buy a newer truck
