One MAJOR thing is the abbreviated DIC (if you happen to want it that is). They removed several functions as compared to the 03~04, even in the Denali's/Escalades!

The Navigation is available, but with the crappy "Premium" amp.

As far as I can tell, an earlier (03~04) cluster MAY restore this feature back to full.

I'm still waiting to try that in an `05 to confirm it. The DIC smarts is in the cluster, not the BCM. (Whew!) However, who knows if that changout will POSITIVLY work, until it's actually tried.

It seems that each year they like to add an item or two but they take away three or four doing it!

In a stock configuration, a 'burb, 'hoe or truck with a small block V-8 and auto should have 3:73's. The 3:73 ratio is a perfect combination of highway driving, towing and everything in between. :seeya: Not perfect at one or the other, but for someone who uses his rig for many different types of driving, the 3:73 is the best "all around" ratio to have.

Why does GM have to mess with a good thing?? Now only 4:10's? Did they make changes to the shift points or the gearing on the auto??

Why must they mess with a good thing??

Check Edmonds.com. One change is that the 3.73 axle ratio is no longer available in non-Denali's. You must choose between 3.42's or 4.10's. Uggh.

Yes, I was extremely disappointed to see that change also. I wouldn't even think of buying a Tahoe or Suburban with anything less than 3.73's. I'm glad I got my '04 when I did.
