New To Fixing Up What To Do?

Recommended Posts

Good Morning,

I have an 04 Silverado Reg Cab Shortbed 4x4 V8 that I am wanting to fix up. I have no idea on what I need to do as I am on a slight budget restraint. Any recommendations on small things to attract the ladies lol would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would suggest a good haircut, a shower, and some flowers. Those things tend to make the ladies a little more receptive than shiny wheels and a billet grill...Or you could do what I do, and ply them with money and liquor.

Kidding man, welcome to the forums! :seeya:

You would really need to specify a price range, and what you like in order to get some opinions about it.

Do you want exterior mods like nerf bars, brush guard, or fender flares?

Or interior mods like a booming stereo, custom seating, or video.

Or maybe you are looking for performance mods. Like A custom computer tune, supercharger, or even a suspension lift.

Well just anything to make it look better. Its pretty much a basic truck it has the work truck package with towing.... I would be able to do some large things just one at a time. I am thinking about putting Flowmasters or Magnaflows on it I've heard good things about them. Wonder what that would cost me. Also wanting to add some chrome fender trim.... Just point me in the right direction on what I need to do to get this truck sharp. I've bought a 23K truck it deserves to look good.

Thanks John

If you're going to go with Flowmaster or Magnaflow, you should know that you will experience a bit of an exhaust drone in the cab. I have Flowmaster on my 92, but I wanted it to sound a little loud, so I went with the Flowmaster, and dumped them over the back axle instead of out the back...So it's pretty loud. Sounds awesome though.

I have A Magnaflow on the 02, and it's just a tiny bit louder than stock, with just a little bit of (in-cab) drone at about 1800 RPMs.

Also, I can't figure out why people will spend $400 on a "cat-back" exhaust kit from Flowmaster or Magnaflow online. Both of my systems cost about $150-$170 locally for a exhaust tech to install them for me. Custom bent pipes and all.

For appearance, I like fender flares (click on the pic of my 02 in my sig) instead of just the trim pieces...But that's me.

I also like billet grilles. I have one (not in my sig pic), but for some reason my pic of it isn't working right now. You can get one for about $150 or so (mine has a polished bow-tie as well).

Wheels are nice too. You can get some American Racing Baja wheels for less than $500, or you can go real nice on those...Really the sky is the limit on wheels. I've seen them for $8000 per wheel. That's not a typo.

A few more:

-Window tint

-Vent shades...Get the "snap-in" type, not the "stick-on" type...You'll thank me later.

-Matching (or chrome) door handles

-Bed cover, or cap

-Bug shield

-"Naked lady" mudflaps

-Cab clearance lights always look cool

-Nerf , or step bars.

-Brush guard

-Headache rack

-A Gm-Trucks.com sticker for the backglass. :wtf:

-Toolbox

Possibilites are endless. :seeya:

I currently have window tint and have added a Kenwood CD player with Sirius Satellite Radio and a 12" Rockford and Fosgate Sub.

Let me post a URL to a Ebay auction and tell me if this is the real thing or junk

If thats real I will bid on it I don't wanna buy JUNK also since my vehicle don't have any trim on it or anything I guess before buying chrome stuff I will need to get chrome for the fenders and stuff first

Looks real to me, and it looks a LOT like the one that I have. They do look quite a bit different than stock, and really dress up the front end of the 03-04 model years (in my opinion, of course).

Keep in mind that you are going to have to remove your current grill (not that difficult), and cut it up in order to install that grill (fairly difficult).

If you aren't pretty handy with cutting tools, I wouldn't advise doing this yourself. But if you're comfortable with a die-grinder, or a sawz-all, knock yourself out. It can be done in an hour or so.

There are grill inserts out there that just snap on over your existing grill, but the one that you linked to is one that actually replaces what's in there now.

Oh Ok I won't buy it then...... I don't want to go thru that hassle guess I'll have to fork out alittle money to buy that.... Also can you post the diagram for the 4 high beam headlights also I am going to get the Amber daytime running lights today and the diodes for the tail lights.... any other small mods like this?

Sorry, I don't have the diagram.

As for other little mods, you could always pull the stickers and trim off. A lot of guys like to do that.

Welcome, Wingnut has a lot of good suggestions there. What I might also suggest that you do is go online to some of the supporting vendors here as well as doing a net search for truck accessories and just browse some sites to see what's out there as well as some examples of what looks good on your particular truck setup.

I added aftermarket stickers to replace factory ones.

I have seen a few wicked flamed 4x4 one's check ebay or decalking.

Here's mine.
