Tire size to rim

I need to know if I can put a 275-65-16 tire on factory rim 16x7

the size recommended range 7.5 - 9

I'd suggest at least 8 inch. A seven inch will pull on th sidewalls pretty hard after it's been mounted.

285/75/16's (BFG AT TA KO's) on my 03 4x4 stock rims as well w/o any problems - replaced the stock Goodyear tires at 7k miles and now have over 21k - rotate every 7k miles and they still look like they are new!

The problem I have is, I can go to a 275x75x16 or a 295, it only requires a 7" rim size, but if I go to lower pro tire like 60 or 65 even a 70 they say you need a min 7.5" rim

my 90 GMC had the 275x60x15 comp TA's from the factory with a 7" rim ??

I guess I will need to buy some wheels to get more rubber on the road, not much I like out there, I'm thinking about the AR Torq Thrust chorme 18x8 w/285x60's

I also had TA/ko 285's on my last truck ('02 Z71) with no rubbing issues. Ride quality was good too. They did hurt acceleration some and braking suffered too.

With this being said, I wouldn't do it again. I made a sudden evasive maneuver and the sidewalls flexed very badly almost to the point of being unsafe. The tires felt like they were going to roll right off the rims even with nearly 40 psi pressure in them. The smart thing to do in my case would've been to go with a 17" rim and smaller tire in order to fill up the wheelwells.

Just go to bfgoodrich and/or bridgestones web site they have the min-max recommended rim sizes included in the tire size spec pages.

For 3yrs I ran Pirelli Scorpion Zero 285/65-16 on the stock 16x7 and they handled and wore excellently - truly superb. For some reason I thought I'd try something different and installed Yokohama 285/70-16 but I don't like them - they are more squirrelly and one time when I was messing around I turned left quickly at a slow speed and the front right tire folded over on itself (which probly would not happen on a wider wheel) - not a good feeling. I will be going back to the 285/65-16 very soon.

I would eventually like to change my wheels to 16x8's some day, maybe when these tires wear out. Hopefully by then I'll have some cash saved up for new wheels...maybe some Mickey Thompson's or American Racing's. For now, the factory wheels seem to be adequate.
