THE BIGPUNN Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 it appears it may of been inevitable, but the 8.1L 8.7-9.2mpg is killin me. i should of gotten a dmax in the first place, ( no "i told you so's please)! anyway, we maybe moving further from the city into the country and the mileage will hurt with the 8.1. we need a big truck to tow the 5er. anyway, i was considering a 2002 sierra or silverado. i want info on how the '02's and older dmax's are doing. especially the injector issue. i probably wont be under any warranty. so any info appreciated. thanks punn.
banshee42096 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 0lder d-maxs are still great they extended the warranty on the injectors to 200000 miles have not heard of any other major problem with the d-max other than that.would not even second guess buying one in my opinion good luck
real_texan77 Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 I know that this may be off the subject a little, but has GM really fixed the injector problems, I still have heard of people from this and other forums that their 2004 are still plaqued with the injector problems. One person even stated that the only difference between the LB and the LLY was that the LLY just made it easier to change out the faulty injectors.
kjjz28 Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 So is the warranty extended to 200k for only the injectors or other components of the diesel and does this include all Dmax trucks (01-05). I don't know about the '02s but I'm looking at an '01 CCSB with 92k and the service history shows the fuel filter has been replaced twice in the last 5k miles as well as the fuel pump, fuel regulator and the direct fuel injection driver module. Seems abnormal to me but I've heard nothing but good things on the Dmax.
bigdogs Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 As far as I know that extended injector warranty only covers up to 02 trucks. My 03 was not included yet but have "heard" they do that in stages to balance the cost on paper...
banshee42096 Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 this is waht i heard i have a freind that works at roush he was in the middle of the injector problem it was found farley quickly that the material of the injector was at fault. they told factory to remove stock of injectors and use new updated injectors.needless to say the bright workers used the rest of the faulty injectors and now they have t6his problem. the new injectors are not supposed to have problems like the past but like anything they do go bad n othing is perfect thats alot of pressure on them just my two cents.
