there is a new z-71 emblem being used on the tahoe and suburban z-71's. you know how they used to have that gold and black one on the sides and back of the vehicle, well for 2005 they have a new emblem it is really cool. i like to put the cool Z-71 emblems on my silverado Z-71 on the interior and exterior. you can buy these on www.gmpartsdirect.com part# is 10362941 they are made of metal and are colored red/black and chrome. thought some of you might like to add some. :ughdance::ughdance::ughdance:

man, i just installed one of these new emblems in the COOLEST PLACE. you know in front of the passenger seat where the passenger air bag cover is, i cleaned the area with an alchol pad, and then put one of the new emblems there, and it looks WICKED. i centered it right in the middle, it looks like it should have been there from the factory.

A photo would be nice.

Yeah, that emblem is great. Wish it came on my truck. I may get one and put it on the tailgate. No good pics on the Chevy website so don't bother going there.

There are actually 2 versions of the Z71 emblems. One has 4x4 the other doesn't. The latter is for the 2wd Z71.

Just buy them from a dealer (brick and mortar or online)

Killer, Are you sure you want to put the emblem over the passenger airbag cover? Might not be a good idea in case of accident.

Do you have any pics?

Hey, you didn't put it on the airbag cover right? That could be kind of dangerous...if you got into an accident (God forbid), I don't think that your passenger would appreciate having Z71 backwards permanently on their forehead!

2wd Z71? 2wd Z71? Did I read that correctly? What would be the point of a 2WD Z71?

Amazingly, '' Z71 '' doesn't mean ''4WD''. :ughdance: Yeah, that's what I thought!!!! I don't know the brand's origin.

The airbag cover does not slap you in the face.. im pretty sure he did not put it on the bag itself... and what if he has his airbags turned off anyways? even if that plastic emblem was not there.. that cover would hurt just as bad.. that is why the cover does not bitchslap you.. just the bag..

Yep, you read it right. The Z71 2wd is marketed towards those that want the Z71 look but don't need 4wd according to GM marketing. I wished they would have called it called it something else like Z66 or something. Blame Toyota and Nissan for starting this trend. They started offering 2wd off road packages first. :ughdance:

As for sticking the on the airbag cover. It is still a bad idea. When the airbag comes out, the cover will bend. This could cause the emblem to come off and get propelled by the airbag. :ughdance:

Well of course cover does not slap you in the face, but the airbag does deploy with an amazing amount of force, enough to turn that emblem into a projectile that is moving at an outstanding speed...I was actually joking about the imprint. It would probably slice right through you. I know I'm getting a little bit off topic here, but you don't want to play around with airbags, they are very powerful. I know many people who have been hit by airbags...I've worked on their cars and replaced airbags that have been deployed. Most of the time, they end up with a broken nose, two black eyes, and possibly a jaw wired shut. I've actually had to deploy airbags myself for safe shipment. When an airbag is replaced by a dealer under warranty, lets say for discoloration or some other warranty concern, it has to be deployed before you can send it back to the manufacturer. So (at least with Toyota), we have to secure it to a steel wheel, and I believe that the steel wheel is supposed to be secured to a lift arm or something (I can't remember it's been a while). Usually mechanic's wire is used...alot of it. Anyway, it sounds like a 44 magnum when deployed. I've seen them break the mechanic's wire, I've watched as the steel wheel went flying through the air from the force...alot of scary things.

I'm assuming that he didn't install it on the cover also, but hey, you never know. Just wanted to make sure...you can never be too safe.
