high/low beam install done

Tom was right, very easy to install, directions were excellent and works real well. Took 4 days to get it from R&D and about 30 minutes to install taking my time. Would recommend R&D to anyone.

This turns both the high and low beams on when you have the high beams on? I agree, the more light the better. This brings up a few questions. One, having your lows on with the brights doesn't this shorten their life (the lows)? Two, is there a kit to have your fog lamps on also? Three, how many lights can you have on your truck (driving down the road, not 4 wheeling) and still be street legal?

Yes, It probably will shorten their life cause they will be on all the time but for the difference it makes I will replace the lows when they burn out.

I think the amount of light may differ from state to state but I am not sure but will try to find out today and let you know.

As far as the life of the bulbs, I had a similar kit on my '91 for about 7 out of the 8 1/2 years I had it, and never replaced a low beam (or high beam) bulb.

It seems like I read somewhere that your not suppose to have more than 4 bulbs lit up at one time, for normal road/highway driving, but I'm not 100% possitive on that. I don't know of any kits, or ways of wiring up the new body style truck fog lights to be on with the low and high beams.

Back to the how many lights part, my '91 did't come with fog/driving lights, but I bought a kit from stylinconcepts that looked like the factory lights. I tapped them into the park lights, plus I had the low/high beam kit and all 6 lights would light up. I never had a problem with law enforcement the whole time I had it.

I think you are right about the 4 bulbs (in a particular direction) in IL anyways. Can you really tell a difference with the high and lows on compared to just the highs? If so I might look for a kit. I'd really like the highs and fog lights though.

Yes, I think there is a noticable difference. The road out ahead of you is lit up well (highs) and rifht in front of you and to the sides as well (lows).

next time you are driving at night hold back the turn signal/wiper arm a little while your low beams are on.

This will activate the "flash to pass" feature and light bup both the low and high beams. You will be able to see what a difference having both beams on makes.

R & D has the kit we've been talking about here lately. What year truck do you have? They do sell kits for the '96 - '98 (old body style) trucks and the '99 (new body style) and up trucks. KC highlights makes a kit that will work with pre-96 trucks, I know because I had one of their kits on my '91 and it worked as well as the R & D kit. However, I did have a kit from stylinconcepts (for my '99 Silverado) and didn't like it. It was a totally different setup that the R & D kit and the KC highlight kit. When the high beams came on, the low beams dimmed. A pretty good bit too. Enough that I got to where I noticed it while driving. The other two kits have not done that, with my experience with them.

I bought a kit from Summit that was for my 94. I never put it on and it is still in the package I will sell for ?. It has never been opened and is hanging on the pegboard in my garage. The kit is made by Painless Wiring.
