Wire pass-thru to engine bay?

Recommended Posts

Where is the best place to pass a couple of small wires thru from the cabin into the engine bay? I'm wiring a switch to an auxiliary horn and can't find a hole. (My garage is 1 foot too short so I can't shut the door with the truck inside. It's pretty freaking cold here in Detroit.)

Thanks.

On the driver side beneath the fender brace is te factory hole for all wires inside iit is above the parking brake mechanism. It will be very tight so patience will help. To bad you are in Detroit because it is a pain to run wires through there. but better than making a new hole.

I used the factory harness right where asilverblazer mentioned. I peeled off the factory tape and fed the wires through with a snake. I actually ended up removing the 2 wires that I fed through when I removed the accessory that I originally wired in, but used the same spot to run the hard plastic vacuum line through for my vacuum guage. You have to be patient because it's very tight, and you could snag some of the factory harness.

Yeah... that's a pain in the arse!!! I pulled something in my back trying to get up under the dash. It looks so easy when you first look at it. I didn't have anything to fish the wire through, so I'm going to have to get back to it later. My airhorn is ready to go, as soon as I can get the wire for the switch through. Someone cut me off this afternoon and I really wished that I had that thing finished. :chevy:

Thanks for the help guys.

I cheated when I did my driving lights. I passed the switch wire through the inside of the fender and in through the door opening, then up under the dash. You can see a 4" section of the wire with the door open, but that's the only tell. When I install my amp I'll wire it with the power cable (new hole).
