Avalanche trans. bad

We talked about this in a thread a few months ago. My Av w/5.3L started slamming into 2nd gear again this morning, but on a regular basis. Also hesitates between 2nd and 3rd. I've got 3000 miles on it. It was bad enough that I set up an appt. for warranty work Wednesday. Now watch it shift perfectly when I take the mechanic for a ride to duplicate the problem. Has anyone had this problem fixed that could post what part (parts) were defective? The service manager was interested in what warning lights had been showing up. I told him none. Do we have warning lights for the transmission?

Make that Avalanche in the title, no such thing as an Avalamche.

Sounds like the problem I had.  The check engine light came on and On-Star was no help.

I pulled the ticket on the work the dealer did:  According to the notes, FOUND TEFLON SEAL CUT ON INPUT SHAFT & METAL IN VALVE BODY (resealed tran completely and replaced valve body.)

Ok then....not sure what I just typed but maybe it'll help you when you go talk with them.

Thanks, wahoo. This truck has been doing this since 2 weeks after I bought it. Just got real bad. I still don't understand the dashlight coming on with a trans problem. Are these trucks that advanced? I have had no dashlights. Never thought to run an onstar diagnostic.

It is my impression that the ECM is that smart - The Allison can even learn how to shift.

Hope your problem is a small one and gets fixed quickly.

I just got back from the dealer. The Av naturally was shifting perfectly so I couldn't recreate the problem for them. They erased the memory so the truck could relearn how I drive. I guess we'll see what happens now. The mechanic said these new GMs are amazing in that he can download and see prior shift points to see if there is a problem, and that the transmission learns from my driving habits. They also told me that I had until 11,000 miles to get a free alignment, so I'm going to take it in soon and have it levelled and aligned.

Got my oil changed this past weekend.  The guy came and got and took me down into the pit.  I thought "this couldn't be good".  Sure nuff...The tranny's leaking.  Yesterday it missed shifting for a little bit.

Looks like another visit to the dealer.
