Service 4wd

I just got a Service 4wd lite on my 99 1500 Z71 just wondering if this is something I can fix or if I have to take it to a dealer.

Pretty sure it is the push-button switch in the dash. It is a very common problem on these truck. Do a search for the part number and then visit one of our pref vendors to order if you don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it at the dealer.

This also happened to my 2000 Z71, I have to agree the switch should be your fix.

I had this happen with my 99 GMC, but the module in the dash was not the problem. With mine it would stick in 4wd or Auto 4, and you would have to hit 2wd a bunch of times before it would come out. Eventually it just stopped working. That ended up to be the Encoder Motor on the transfer case.

My 99 Yukon will not engage the low range. It tries twice and goes back to 2hi . The light blinks when it is trying to shift.

I had a 99 Chevy 1500 with the same problem replaced the dash switch and a ok. Foound out this is a very common problem in this truck suprised that GM never had recall on it.
