Every time I turn around

Recently my passenger side electric window motor required replacement, my tailgate latch rod connector broke and now my drivers side seat belt reel is squeaking. Right behind my left ear I get a squeak every time the belt moves. Can this be lubricated somehow? Has anyone else's ever done this?

spray a little silicone in the retractor, not a big deal.

facn8me,

Good one - wish I'd said that!

jhm,

Thanks for the tip. Being a novice, do you mean thru the slit (which would seem to coat the belt itself) or do I have to remove anything to reach the mechanics?

How much did it run to replace the window motor? My pass. side is going too, but I am broke (too much sunk in tires).

If I remember correctly, I got it done for about $325. The dealer wanted about $475.

Dawg... I feel your pain.. this is an enthusiast site, and from time to time some of people find it hard to accpt that some of these trucks are true pieces. At least you can get help here and maybe you can fix the non critical stuff your self.

I know in my 25 years of driving, I have never been towed or had as many problems with a car until I brought this one. Look at the trade in values.. that should tell you right there, or the number of NBS trucks on Chevy dealers lots..

I can't wait until spring to see the Honda Ridgeline. It if will hold 4 people and tow 3500 pounds. I'm buying one. I can;t do this much longer. This weeks problem, the real main oil seal is leaking, and the paint is bubbling on the passenger side door.

Here is what I did: Pulled the harness out all the way, put the extender tube on the silicon can, stuck it in the slot and felt around til it touched the metal spindle, gave it one short blast at each end, done.

 Your truck is a piece. I can accept that.

sjspor - Overall, I like my 99 Sierra. There just have been several problems recently. I don't even have 40,000 miles on it yet and the window motor going out made me mad that it didn't last longer. (Wish I could opt for manual windows.)

At what point did we as a society begin thinking that all mechnical things were supposed to be perfect all of the time? You bought a machine designed and built by humans. There will be things that go wrong, we should expect this.
