I think running a 22 X 9.5" rim without a drop kit should be fine. If and when you drop it, I think you will be having some rubbing issues even with a drop as conservative as a 2/4. Running a 45 series tire will definately help you out in the sidewall area, but may rub as well. I have a freind with a Tahoe running some 22" X 9.5" rim with a 305/45/22 and has no rubbing issues at all at the stock height.

I have some 22" X 8.5" with a 305/40/22 and a 2/4 drop kit installed and I have zero rubbing issues. There might be a butthair of clearance at full turn, but it doesn't rub.

Be careful running a big rim with a low profile sidewall. One big pothole and there goes your high dollar rim. I'm running 20's with 305-50's they fill up wheel well and look beefy besides. If I knew how to download pics to the site I'd show you.

Just my $0.02.

i've thought about that whole pothole thing, but as i sit here and look at my work truck on 20s, i just think to myself, "a little larger would look a lot cleaner." plus...this is definatly gonna be a babied street truck.
