Greaseable u-joint

When replacing the rear u-joint I opted to put in a greaseable one. How many miles do you go between greasings? Also, I can't seem to be able to access the zerk with my grease gun. Can I buy a smaller coupler at the end of the gun. Otherwise, I won't be able to get grease in. Finally, does anyone have recommendations on grease brands. I went with Mobile 1.

I put 2 trigger pulls (air grease gun) in every oil change (5K). On my Tahoe, I have to lower rear as far as possible and spin the driveshaft so the rear zerk is pinting down. Front has to be pointing up to grease. My air gun only shoots a lump of grease about the size of a pencil eraser (#2 pencil) each trigger pull. I also have been using mobil 1. In the engine, in the rear diff, in the front diff, in the front end, and in the universals. Love that stuff!

I usually hit my u-joints and slip yokes with grease every time I change the oil, just a pump or 2 usually does it, grease is cheaper than replacing them again.

If you do alot of off-roading thru water, sand, mud or tow heavy loads, grease them more often. There are several adapters made for grease gun tips for hard to reach areas, and can usually be found at your local parts store (PEP Boys, Auto Zone, Advance, NAPA, to name a few)
