Fuel Gauge

I have a 98 C-1500 with a Silverado package. Included in this package is the gauge cluster with the tachometer. My fuel gauge has begun jumping around and I fear now that the gauge has become inacurate. Can I replace just the fuel gauge, or do I have to replace the entire unit?

I think you can get just the sender, which is considerably cheaper than the whole unit. The parts dept may tell you differently, but I know that some folks here have been able to find em (at least on the NBS trucks). Maybe somebody has a part number for ya.

I don't think it is the sending unit, it is the gauge itself. The sending unit is brand new with the fuel pump within the last 10k miles. I am looking for the gauge itself if anyone has the the part numbers.

I tried finding it at GMparts direct with no luck...found the whole cluster at Parts Zone Online. I would think and hope that the guage would be available separately though. Here's a link to the PartsZone page:

Hopefully someone will be able to hook up with a part# for the guage.

Darn...link doesn't go direct to the page with the part...here's the part description.

Thanks, by the time I checked it out, it was over and no bidders. I was not sure that I could replace just the fuel gauge, but I thought I would ask. Guess if I bought this, I would have to have the dealer reset the milage.

Did the guage work before you replaced the sending unit? Maybe your new sending unit has an infant-mortality problem... Just a thought.
