What year is your S10? Where are you from? the reason I ask is if you may need a 4X4.

My opinion is that I'd have the Silverado over the S10. I've had both and I really like the Silverado. It's a great truck.

The S10 I had was back in the mid 80's. I'm sure they have changed.

I just got a 01 Silverado 4.8/auto/3.73. It is a great truck and I love it. MPG is working past 18 on its way to 20 with 1100 miles on the truck. My only concern is the 4.10 might be a better choice because at 55 mph it is only turning about 1600 rpms. That is a little low in IMHO. I don't really think you will loose that much in mpg to improve driveability. If you are thinking about ordering load it. LS, tow package, tinted windows. If you get the tinted windows you really don't need the auto dimming rear view. So far I have not had any head lights bright enough to require shifting the rear view. I hope this helps.

Blue,

Yes you are correct, in the 4X2 configuration. I was not looking there when I spoke. I have no use for a 2wd so I payed no attention to those numbers. Thanks for catching that for me.

1500, 2wd, 6 1/2, 4.8, auto, 3.42 & 3.73

1500, 4wd, 6 1/2, 4.8, auto, 3.73 & 4.10
