Hey everyone,

So today was the big day. I just got home from the local muffler shop and they fitted me with a Magnaflow 3' catalytic converter and muffler. I decided to dump it at the bed, because it was a lot less expensive I'm pretty happy with it.

The cab drone is a little worse than what I wanted, but I should expect to pick up a MPG or two, which would defnatly be nice. I really like the looks of it. I think the tail pipe kinda hurts the profile when it gets worn and starts to brown and this eliminates it all together. Pretty cool.

The tone at idle is very nice. Its not loud or abnoxious or anything. It is a 4.3L V6, so there is some slight raspyness at hard throttle, but I think thats pretty much expected from any 6 cyl motor.

My happiness scale from 1 to 10 is about a 7.

  170+ mile trip to dads today (one way) 87 regular started at $4.99 here and was $3.67 in Iowa. On the way back their is a Love's and a BP on the Interstate (39) 10 miles from the town closest to me. Gas was $4.09 both placed. A half mile closer to home Marathon was $4.59 and at home Still $4.99. I bought Shell V Power Nitro + 93 in Morrison Illinois for $4.85 and on the way back same gas in Rochelle for $5.01. Yea, same price as Regular 87 next door to me.

  Ouch, that's why I left Ford. Both my 10R80 and a friend's 10R80 had valve body problems. And on his, he barely towed. Mine eventually got the CDF drum, but it never drove right, so I ended up selling at a loss. So it sounds like a thorough check of the transmission (assuming these have a "fast relearn" mode) will be a good idea. Or look for one that's had its 10-speed recently rebuilt. Haven't touched the radio settings, but yes - almost every truck had bass at or near +12 and treble at +12. Felt odd as on Fords and Rams, especially with premium audio, the door panels would be shaking with such settings. Goal is to tow a travel trailer cross country and use the truck for long trips. No in-town driving or local use, I have a car. I see some with ultra high mileage (160-200k) going for the same price as lower mileage units, would you think those may be a better buy?   I'm stumped but it sounds like a brain teaser. I'm assuming you're already accounting for any oil saturated in filter media that gets tossed with the old filter, although that would be a fairly large filter to hang on to an entire quart.
