I have a 99 New body style gmc sierra ex cab 4x4. Well the doors lock as soon as you take off then you have to unlock them after you stop. It is a real pain. Well i did some checking and have found that the 2000 and newer trucks there is ways to change this. I posted this on another borad and someone there said the computer could be reflashed so it didnt do this. My brother in law has a shop and he has a "Modus", ( i think thats the correct term anyway). that he uses to scan vehiicles for problems and he can also make setting with it. What I am wondering is there anyone here that knows if he can set my doors so they wont lock and unlock except by my control.?

ANother question is how if at all can the automatic headlights be bpassed so if i am setting someplace i can shut off the lights totaly or even just run the park lights.

Thanks

Andy

I'm pretty sure you can do this on your truck with a sequence of pressing the door unlock or lock button while you turn the key. I don't know the exact procedure, but it should be in your owner's manual.

I've heard they took this ability to adjust out of the more recent trucks, but yours should be able to change.

Good Luck!

On 99's and early 2000's they wouldn't let you change the doorlock function. I ended up getting a R&D Accessories kit for the door locks and the 4 headlight mod. But sorry to say they are not in bussiness anymore. I'm not sure of any other company that does this. As far as your auto headlights do a search you'll come up with a few different ideas to put a switch in.

If I recall correctly, in the 99, this could only be shut off through programming the BCM. There was a TSB on this and GM would cover the change one time under warranty. If the customer wanted it turned back on at a later date, it would be at their expense.

Okay, here ya go. I found the TSB...

Beginning with the ignition in OFF position, pull back on the turn signal/multifunction lever all the way toward you and hold it while you perform the next step.

Turn your key to ON and OFF twice. Then with the key in OFF position, release the turn signal/multifunction lever. Once you do this, you will hear the lock switch lock and unlock.

You are now ready to program the automatic door locks. Once you release the turn signal/multifunction lever you will have ten seconds to begin programming.
