Bazooka tube in a regular cab?

Recommended Posts

Hello

I am new to the board; looks like it is a great source of info. I am looking to add some bass to the factory system (2005 Silverado regular cab). I read through a lot of the posts but my exact question hasn't been answered, or I missed it.

I have decided on either an amplified Bazooka tube or the Infinity Basslink. I really prefer to keep the seat all the way back, and I definitely want to keep the armrest functionality, in both positions.

Here is the question:

Given those two requirements, should I forget about adding some bass or can this be done? I really prefer to go with an amplified unit, will the 6" Bazooka fit without having to slide the seat forward, or can I go with the 8"? I am assuming the 10" Bazooka is definitely out due to its size.

Thanks for any help! :wtf:

I had a 6" in a small RCSB behind the drivers seat, I was able to keep the seat all of the way back as well.  I could imagine that on a full size, you should be able to use a 8 or 10"

Thanks for the info! I assume by 'small RCSB' you mean a regular cab compact truck, like an S-10. If so, I shouldn't have a problem with an amplified 8" Bazooka...I think I am going to order one! It just didn't seem like there was that much room back there.

I don't think there's enough room back there for an 8" bazooka tube. The dimensions say it's 10" wide. Not even a truck box is 10" wide(deep). You'd be better off going with the basslink for the room, imo.

Thanks for the input.....I read that the Basslink will stick out between 9 1/2" and 9 7/8" if mounted behind the seat....just a tad less than the 8" Bazooka. Maybe I'll need to go with the 6" Bazooka.

Anyone out there have a 99 or newer Silverado/Sierra regular cab and a Bazooka tube or an Infinity Basslink? If so, please let me know how it fits!

I've got a bazooka EL8 in my truck, and it fits fine. (It's the 8" 100watt amplified model).

The passenger seat is up about 1" forward from normal, and the headrest is about 1/2" from the glass, while only slightly reclined.

I've never had anyone notice whose ridden in that seat, not even my dad, who is 6'4" like me.

If I can remember, I'll take a pic tonight to show you how mine is in there...

Wow, I guess I didn't realize that there was that much room behind the seat in the regular cabs.  Sorry if I misinformed you.

Man, don't feel bad... if I didn't have that bazooka leftover from another car I wouldn't have tried it. I definitely wouldn't have gone and bought one otherwise, as I figured there wasn't enough room behind there either. It's a good tight fit, and since it is firing towards the driver's seat, it sounds pretty good too.

Thanks Halen5150 and fastdrvr23. I appreciate the info....I am going to buy either a 6" or 8" Bazooka, probably an 8".

Here's the pics, I didn't have much time, but hopefully they'll give you an idea.

I purposely didn't hard mount the bazooka, so I could take it out easy if I needed too.

The seat holds it tight enough where it doesn't rattle or anything. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

One of the head unit, with the adaptor plate it came with from Crutchfield, It's a Kenwood KDC205, not very fancy, but strong and clear sounding:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who keeps TP in their truck.

The bass tube looks good! Thanks for the pics! I think that is exactly the set up that I will go with. Truck looks nice too.....I almost got a black one myself.

Thanks again! :flag:

Those look like a good fit as well....I am hoping to go with something with a built in amp, though. Thanks for the pics.
