2004 Yukon XL Front End Noise

I'm new to this forum, as a result of replacing my beloved 1998 GMC Yukon (after 250K) with a 2004 GMC Yukon XL 1500 AWD.

I bought the XL with 8000 miles on it, and have added 2000 more in two months. In the last two weeks I've begun to notice a noise in the front end that is most noticeable when I take the foot off the gas to decelerate (though I can hear it on acceleration, as well).

The noise most reminds me of a noise I heard once or twice on my 98 Yukon when the U-Joint needed lubrication, though it is not as loud, and comes from the front rather than rear.

Any suggestions for a diagnosis?

Thanks!

COVERED HERE EXTENSIVELY, DO A SEARCH. TSB for it. Look for the "sticky" at the top of this thread in the header.

I had a similar problem on mine. I figured it was the steering shaft that is so common but mine ended up being a tranny cooling line rubbing on the steering linkage.
