Please do not mis-understand when I say this..

But A BIG thanks to all the posters and members and staff of this website

for not posting and/or allowing the filthy stuff found on other sites!

 

I was reading on another site from a link someone posted in the forsale section of this site...

It did not take me long to see the childish ways of the other site and stop reading their forums.. the talk they allow and use over there is really un-called for and just reminded me of why I spend so much time reading here!

We all have our times of foul talk but to type it?? come on.. anyway not meaning to bash the other site either..

just a big thanks to all here for acting like Adults and not the kids over there..

Totally agree with this post. I personally love it when you get bashed for expressing an opinion. They post asking for opinions then spend the next week bashing the opinions. God forbid you ever get involved in a flame war!!!!

 

I love this board for the open exchange of ideas without the childish attitudes.

Could not agree MORE!! :cheers: Having my past vehicles be Jeeps i spent a LOT of time on www.jeepsunlimited.com and while I dont want to make a general comment about it being childish, because there are SO many helpfull people over there! Yet also so many "kids" that simply reply USE THE SEARCH function, or some smart a$$ responce!

I agree, seems like the other site I look on (not sure if I should mention it or not...) is much more about opinions (and how dumb you are for not agreeing) and trashing brands etc...no technical help at all, but lots of attitude! This site has a very nice blend of help/technical and humor without people getting angry all the time...keep it up. Later, :devil::jester::cheers:

Yeah, I like this site the best too. PUTC has gotten horrible over the last few years, and this site keeps getting better and better. People here help you with your problems instead of bashing your truck. The discusions are alot more grown up here, as opposed to the constant political talk over there. Thanks for all the work mods!!!

Thanks to all. I know signing on that there'll be a number of things to make me laugh, make me say "I didn't know that", and hopefully make me feel good for helping someone solve a problem. I think we've off-topic'd on some of the current issues from time to time and like debate in life, not everyone is going to agree with you, but it seems like most of the time, we all take the higher road and respect one another's opinion and know that tomorrow is another day.

This site helped me more than anyone I know. If I hadn't have found this site, I probably would have sold the 02 and bought a VW :cheers:

 

When I started having the problems with my 02 Silverado, this is the place that helped through 3.5 months of HE!!.

 

I have talked to so many wonderful, caring, and highly intelligent people here, I owe my sanity and my new 05 Silverado to the people here. You guys were patient with me when I asked dumb questions, you all supported me and pushed me when I was ready to give up. You guys taught me a lot about my truck.

 

I honestly believe the people that run this site and the great people that post here helped me through the whole truck saga and got me into the new one. Each one of you had a role in helping me, THANK YOU!

 

I am grateful to the people that work so hard to keep this site as awesome as it is, I know they put a lot of time and effort to give all of us "truck" people a place to hang out and talk and help each other.

 

YOU GUYS ARE THE GREATEST!!!!!!!!! :jester:

I also spent many years on jeepsunlimited boards. In the beginning, there were many helpful people with no childish or hateful banter, but it has taken a turn toward being a waste of time to read. Now that I'm an ex Grand Cherokee owner, I found this board to be just what I need. I was noticing that there aren't nearly the amount of repair/problems/warranty related posts like exists at jeepsunlimited, but I guess that's because GM knows how to build better trucks than Chrysler does. I sure don't miss those crummy Dana diffs and 249 transfer cases!

I agree, this is hands-down one of the best message boards I have found on any topic. The mods do a great job, and the members generally do seem to care about others problems. I have learned more things here in the past few months than I ever new about my truck. Its nice not to be afraid to ask a question, stupid or otherwise.

:cheers: Finding good info on other sites is like looking for parts in a landfill. If you're lucky, you might find something you need, but you have to sort through alot of trash first :jester:

Hey all!

 

I found this site about a month ago while lookin around the web for opinions on a specific product. It took awhile but...because of the quality of the people that post here, I decided to go ahead and join up...thus my first post. I really appreciate the great information and opinions shared...I wish I had found this site a long time ago.

 

Anyway, enough rambling...

      This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.

      2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.

      Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉

      Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
