2500HD 6.0 PCM

I need to send my pcm out for a tune but need to know how to get it out of the truck! I can see the big black box but how do u open it to get to the pcm, or do you take the whole box off? I cant find any bolts that would hold a cover on. Is there any steps that need to be taken b4 unplugging the pcm--- like unhooking the battery?? Thanks in advance for the input!!

When in Doubt, use a hammer. NOT!!!

Ok...The black cover you see under the battery a ways is the plastic cover that covers the PCM. This is held on by some plastic tabs. Get a flashlight and look ALL AROUND the cover to see what your working with. Pull the cover to clear the TOP tab and then move it around to disengage the lower tab. Once that is done, disconnect the battery and bag the ends so they don't accidently touch the posts on the battery again. Then use an IIRC 8mm socket and loosen the screws located in the center of each wiring plug (2). The screws will back out the connector for you. Just be gentle. Once the connectors are free, use a screwdriver to pop off the metal clip on top of the PCM and it will come free.
