I think BB bought this set-up as well. It should be here next week, just looking to find if there were good install directions with this kit and and how the install went for you? Im not crazy about drilling through the roof of my truck, is there a template for the anttena? How long did the install take. ANy comments or instructions would be great.

Thanks

Okay, got everything yesterday. Everything looks pretty straight forward. Still a little uneasy about drilling through the roof of my truck. What did anyone here use to do that? Im thinking a "Uni-bit" is probably the best thing. Did anyone pull part of their headliner down to do this?

I was curious about this myself. I don't think you necessarily have to mount the antenna on the roof. My friend added Sirus and simply ran his antenna on his dash. He has also put it under his passenger seat when he had his friends riding with him and it seemed to work just fine. I thought I would pass that info along. I would try mounting it somewhere inside the cabin to see how the reception was before I drilled through my roof line and had to go through the trouble of running the wires under the headliner.

Best of luck on your install. Keep us updated. I am curious to see how this works out.

cheers... :D

I thought of goping that route, but i want to keep everything looking as STOCK as possible. The kit came with a nice template for the antenna mounting position. I think i will use a uni-bit and just give it a whirl. Everything else looks to be a breeze. I know BB did this install, where are you you BB?

I did the factory add-on just a week ago, works great. When you go to drill the hole in the roof, I put a small piece of 2x4 right next to where the hole would be( between the roof and headliner). I did that just in case my drill bit for the pilot hole caught and pull in the bit it wouldnt go thru the headliner. Then I used a step drill MAKING sure you dont over drill your hole, because then the antenna clamp ( which clamps from the bottom ) could pull thru your hole and not tighen. The rest is real nice and doesnt take long to complete. I then went online and signed up for service, Oh you need to go for a drive or leave the radio on without the vehicle running for up to an hour in the driveway. This is how XM can signal your unit for programing and then your all set . Mine took about 30 minutes and works just like it came from the Factory.

Yup, completed the install today with no problems. Everything was very clear, and worked perfectly. Thanks for the replies.
