00-SILVERADO Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 GM-Tech and other forum members, I bought a 00 Silverado Extended CAB Z71. When I bought it I noticed some squeaking coming from underneath the vehicle. At the time I thought it was not a big deal but now I get very annoyed every time I hear it. A few weeks ago I had a 6" Fabtech lift professionally installed and added 20" wheels with Nitto Mug-Grappler tires. I was hoping that the lift would take care of the problem but it didn't. The company that installed the lift said they were not sure where the noise was coming from. My driveway is on a slight grade and when I let the truck roll back a little then apply the brake I here the noise. To be honest, the sound; sounds like the cab or bed is loose and when I accelerate or brake it slides (all is tight there). I am also aware of the "Clunk, Bump or Squawk when Vehicle Comes to Complete Stop or Accelerating from Complete Stop (Replace Rear Drive Shaft Nickel-Plated Slip Yoke) #01-04-17-004A - (Sep 14, 2004)" (Document ID# 1549772 ) Bulletin from GM but I don't think that's it. I crawled under the vehicle and had a friend apply the brake after rolling back a few feet and the sound did not appear to be coming from the yoke. I have looked and looked and can not find where it is coming from. The sound is loud enough that I person standing about 50 feet away can here it. I am hoping you may have some insight as to what this sound might be. Thanks in advance, John
GM-Tech Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 I have no suggestions. Noises are hard enough to find when you're standing right there listening to them (as you apparently discovered ). Trying to find one over the internet is nearly impossible if you're not describing a common concern, and you're not.

Like said above, they can be tuff to find and fix. Get some tools out and check every bolt you can find under truck and check body to frame mounts too. The lift kit may have made it worse not better because it induces more strain on the frame and resulting flex.
