Yea u know how i was talking about my truck and stuff. WEll i wrecked it today. It was really wet and i floored it and my ****ty tires spun and spun and spun and i fishtailed back and forth then i hit a tree in a small ditch. This was on the way to school  with some friends. Everyone was ok and we are doing fine ( cept for my baby (truck)  )  my whole front end is messed up ....I need a new hood grill bumber ...the works. I so cant believe i was so careless and now im gonna prob be stereotyped as another careless teen that wrecks there car and mommy and daddy buys em another. NO!!!!! i hate people like that. This is a lesson to learn from and im glad everyone is ok. Ill get some pics sometime soon.....

Um, ok, I'll ask.  Do you think you could you have prevented this?  I see two opportunities....

1)  Sometime between flooring it and the impact with the tree, was there a tiny thought like maybe I should let up on the accelerator" ?  The thought probably would have been flashing through the ol' brain cells somewhere around the "tires spun and spun and spun" and "fishtailing back and forth" parts of the trip......

2)  Its amazing how fast a perfectly dry road  can "wet up" on ya.  It was dry when you got in the truck and by the time you started the truck and put the petal to the metal the pavement was soaked right?  I know you wouldnt just floor it in the rain.....

Sorry for your "bad luck".  Hope its not real expensive to fix.

Hey, I wouldn't feel too bad, you're not as bad off as I was.  My truck was 4 months old when a guy bolted out of a parking lot 10' in front of me.  At 25 mph my truck demolished his blazer and in turn my truck suffered a bit of damage.  I think it was close to 8,000 dollars.  But, the accident wasn't my fault.  Although even the cop figured it would be because I was just the punk kid.  The insurance company (his not mine) told me I should have had time to react.  When I did the math it came down to about .8 seconds, I'm quick, but not that quick.  So right now I'm suing his insurance company.  That sucks, the truck was in the shop for a month.  So, the accident that you were in was bad, but trust me it coulda been worse.

Come on guys..  Everyone was young and dumb once.  I just didn't have a new truck to prove it with.  I did pay for my own new stepside my senior year.  Never put a scratch on her though.  Its different when you pay for it yourself.  I put two cars before that through ####.  Had 16 speeding tickets alone when I was 17.  Not to mention a couple of fender benders.

I know my truck is slick as #### when I pull out of the parking garage into the rain here.

Hey react, have you thought about replacing your front end w/a Denali front end?  If anything ever happens to mine I will make the switch.  One of these days someone will pull out in front of me a little too close..

There is an intersection by my house where people pull out of Wal-Mart onto our loop in front of people going 60.  They don't think about how slow they are going and how fast the person going 60 is going to get there!

Do the new trucks bend easier than the old style??  I have seen lots of trucks around here w/small dings & dents on the front bumper.  Some are hanging off on one side.

I have tapped the concrete beams in the parking garage in the past w/my '95 stepside and it never hurt it.  The older body style also had the body molding around the front to help.  I even gave a guy a push w/my old truck once.  I wouldn't dare touch anything w/this one..  It would definitely take the paint off of those w/the painted bumper cover..

I'm going to say that new trucks are just made a lot weaker.  Not just the bumpers, but the whole body.  I've got a dent on the side of my truck (nice sized) from a guys car door.  They just don't know how to make the trucks stand up like they used to.

no i havent thought about a new denali front end.... thatd be pretty sweet? do u think the insurance comp would pay for it? also since i need a new hood do u think theyd pay for a cowl induction custom hood? thatd be sweet. yea it was a dumb mistake but i didnt know the tires were spinning ....it happened all so fast....ill learn from this.

I kind know how you feel with your accident..

Mine was in the middle of winter.. The road wasnt too bad it was just poor road underneith.. Its a farm road so its not well maintained.. as soon as the back end in the silverado hit a little rut in the road i did a 180 and slammed into a tree at like 40 kph..  Luckly no cops around so i just got a guy from work pull it out from work with a tractor and i drove it home..

I needed a new right door and new 3rd door, new winsheild *just replaced the month before*, the cab had a dent in it that looked like a hardball hit it, plus i basically wrote the box off..  Only thing that i was glad is the tree was there because i would have slid into a 10 foot deep just recently frozen river and i would have gone in cab first..  Not bad for like 8000 in repair bills..

I really dont care about it now because i know i had no control over what would happen because i was doing the speed for the condtions and it just happened..

Everyone will have accidents as long as you learn from them and use that in the future..

Good luck getting your truck sorted out!

16 tickets!?!?!?! By the age of 17???? How did you get out of losing your license around #4?

I am glad that nobody was hurt and you learned a lesson. I did some pretty stupid stuff when I was your age. When I was in High School my mother had a Olds Cutless and one day was reading my Senior Year Book. Well she asked about all the comments on the race car. They were not talking about my truck.

React,

Your insurance company will give you a check for what the body shop says...you can then get the body shop to change whatever.  You'll probaby have to add some money to it.  I'd try to do something so that it you'll at least get something out of all of it.

Yes.. There are several options here in Texas to get them removed from your record.

1. You can take Defensive Driving once every year.

2. You can goto Teen court once a year if you are a teen.

You can goto these more than once a year if you get the tickets from different cities or agencies.

Like one from DPS and one from the city.

3. There is also an option called differed adjudication.  You have to pay an a$$ load and are put on a three month probation where If you get another ticket you lose your license.  Not sure how many times you can use this, but I have done it several times.

I Never lost my license, but I lost a couple of insurance companies.  Had to pay allot for a 'signed risk' policy.

We figured a cheaper way out of that by just put the car under someone else's name and just carry a 'non-owners' policy.

I finally got an insurance break when I got married and will be getting the next one when I turn 25 next year.

The tickets drop off something like every 2 years from the time you took care of it.  I have had a clean record since I was 20.

I always seem to get just one ticket a year and take defensive driving every year like paying my dues for the year.

No I am not going to stop speeding..  I commute 76 hwy miles roundtrip to work every day..  -Usually truckin about 85mph @ 2100rpm..  :o

Anyone invest in those DPS stickers they are selling every year?  Do they help?
