8 lugs and add a leaf

 Looking for an application or suggestion for an add a leaf or helper spring for my 96 K2500 ext cab long bed 8 lug HD.

I have looked at hellwig supersprings, velvet ride shackles( to compensate for empty ride quality)

I have a set up for my old 3/4 ton 6 lug an it seems like it would work but the manufacturer said it may not be a good idea. Is he right or just spewing legal mombo jumbo stuff?

thanks

For my '95 K3500 I was able to buy the 2nd-stage leaf and "ears" that mount on the frame, to give me about another 1500 pounds of load capacity. I just went to the parts department and found the parts that were used on the K3500 dually, and ordered them, and they fit perfectly.

And despite what naysayers will tell you, it worked fine, truck handled fine even when loaded. Since the springs didn't engage until there was a load on the truck, they didn't affect ride quality.

The dually uses a differnt axle housing than the SRW truck that is rated 8000 lbs or more in capacity verse the 6000 lb capacity rated SRW axle so there is more than springs involved. The LD 2500 used a axle with a capacity around 5000lbs. (same axle now used in the 1500HD)
