2003 HD Tranny temp gauge?

I'm thinking of adding a tranny temp gauge to the A-pillar on my 03... How much of a job would it be to do this? Like i said it will be installed on the a-pillar (Mainly for looks, but a tranny temp gauge would be functional as well), but from there how would it connect to the tranny to give me an accurate readout on the temp? Just some basic explinations would be great...

Jester, I haven't installed a trans gauge but plenty of other gauges, but I'll guess that it'll have a sending unit you'll need to attach in-line to a cooler line (to the cooler, not return !!) or maybe in the pan if you have a port.

 

Hopefully it'll come with instructions with two or three locations...

 

Can't imagine it'll be very tough in any case.

why not just replace the instrument cluster with a 2500HD cluster, same exact thing as your cluster except it has a tranny temp guage in it. Best of all, it looks totally stock.

Thats an escalade cluster, but you can get the silverado clusters if you look around.
