Hummer H2

What do you all think of it?  Did GM finally do us all right after buying the rights from AM General.  Personally, I like it.  I knew it would be based off the GMT800 platform, so seeing a live axle on the back was expected.  And I knew the geared hubs, inboard brakes, and alot of the other cool things from the original Hummer wouldn't make it, but it still has some sophisticated stuff.  The traction control system is really slick.  The part I like the most is that while it shares the Tahoe/Sub platform, it really doesn't look like there's a ton of shared parts like the way a Tahoe and an Escalade have.  My only gripes with it is the one powertrain choice and the lack of a DVD-ROM navigation system.  And if it winds up costing more than an Escalade, I suppose that'll be another gripe.  But otherwise, I'm really interested in the thing.

I think it looks pretty good, I'd personally stick w/ the classic hummer, but I would take a free one if offered.  If you look at it, it shares some design characteristics of the suburban.  The fully independent suspension of the hummer H1 was nice, but I suppose it's probably more cost effective to go w/ a solid rear axle.  It looks good, I'd like to take a ride in one to check out the cool interior.

You can still tell it's a Tahoe underneath, but it's got a lot of individuality to it.  Especially the body.  The interior looks like it has more parts from the GMT360(Trailblazer), than the GMT800 parts bin.  I'm especially happy to see the new steering wheel with the umpteen buttons and the information center just like the Trailblazer.  I almost bought one instead of my Silverado because of the interior.  And I would have, but at the time, nobody would deal below sticker on it.

Fortunately I work right next to a Hummer dealer, so when the thing finally comes out, I'll be one of the first to go get a test drive.  Unless GM gets greedy with the price...
