Knocking Noise Under Dash

Recommended Posts

Posted

I was wondering if anyone else has had a knocking noise underneath the center of the dashboard, down low. I have noticed it only happens when the defrost is on, and the fan is on any speed including ZERO!!. I also noticed a noise behind the headlight switch that sound like an old computer from the 80's with the clicking. I am not trying to sound "nit picky", but I have had this truck for a year and I am just now hearing this stuff. I have a 2004 Z71. Thanks.

If you have climate control the noise under the dask could be the air temp mixing door. I hear mine sometimes (not always).

Can't help on the noise behind the switch.

And if it is the door, try selecting a few different "defrost"/"defog" positions maybe one will be silent.

"Clicking Noise coming from underneath the Dash" was found when I had my 02 Burban in for Steering Wobble.

Cause was RECIRCULATION ACTUATOR SHORTED. ACTUATOR part#89018373 replaced.

I did not hear the noise, the Service Manager said the mechanic heard the noise while working on my truck. The same Manager said "good thing you have the extended warranty". Where is that smilie icon with the BS flag?
