Help! Front Bearing hub on 99 Z71

I need to know if you can pull the cv axle and still drive the pickup or will the bearing come apart?A friend called me and said his axle has gone bad and does not have the money to buy a axle until Monday.He wants to pull the cv axle on the driverside and drive it to work about 65 miles a day.Will it be ok?

The only thing I know he could do is pull the cv shaft apart and just run the outer part . It must be there to hold the bearngs in the proper place.

Yep, that will work, you might even get a broken or worn front axle shaft at a bone yard to get the axle shaft stub off of.
